Draft for lawyer review

This page is an interim draft that a lawyer has not reviewed yet. It describes how M3U.Click works today and may change after the review. Questions: support@tibrcode.com.

⚖️ marks a point our lawyer still has to confirm. Text in square brackets starting with PENDING is information we are still adding.

In short

M3U.Click does not set any cookies today, and no advertising or tracking runs on the site. To work, the editor stores your own playlists and a few preferences in your browser’s storage on your device. That storage is not sent to us or anyone else.

What is stored in your browser, and why

Everything below is created only because you use the website or the editor, and it stays on your device.

Small preferences (local storage)

Name Set by What it does
m3uclick.theme Website and editor Remembers whether you chose the light, dark or system theme
m3uclick.locale Editor Remembers the language you chose for the editor
m3uclick.hasData Editor Notes that the editor has saved playlists before, so it can warn you if your browser deleted them
m3uclick.persistPromptDismissed Editor Remembers that you closed the message about protecting your data from automatic clean-up

Your work (IndexedDB and private file storage)

The editor keeps your playlists, entries, groups, edit history and settings in a browser database named m3uclick, and may keep larger files, such as automatic snapshots, in your browser’s private file storage for this site.

Offline copy (cache storage)

A service worker keeps a copy of the website’s pages, styles, scripts, fonts and icons in caches named m3uclick-shell-…, so the editor opens without a connection. A cache named m3uclick-inbox briefly holds a playlist file that you share to M3U.Click from another app, until the editor opens it. The service worker never stores streams, logos or other content from third-party servers.

This storage is strictly necessary to provide the service you ask for: an editor that keeps your playlists on your device and works offline. Under the EU ePrivacy rules and similar laws, storage that is strictly necessary for a service the user has explicitly requested does not need consent. ⚖️ Our lawyer is confirming this reading.

Statistics without cookies

When we switch it on, Cloudflare Web Analytics counts page views on our information pages. It does not set cookies or use local storage, and it never runs in the editor. See the Privacy Policy.

Advertising (not active yet)

We plan to show a small number of ads on some information pages, never inside the editor view that shows your own playlist entries. Advertising uses cookies or similar identifiers. Before ads start, we will update this policy and show Google’s consent message where the law requires it, so you can accept or refuse.

How to remove or block this storage

  • In the editor, Settings → Delete all local data removes everything M3U.Click stored in this browser.
  • Your browser’s settings let you clear this site’s data or block sites from storing data. If you block storage, the editor cannot keep your playlists.
  • Private or incognito windows delete their storage when you close them.

Backup files you saved yourself are not affected by any of this.
